POSITION OVERVIEW

The Sustainability Lead works throughout Michael Garron Hospital with all members of the care team to ensure awareness, understand importance, and optimize use of disposable gloves. The act of education, active discussion, observational audits and provision of feed back are the foundations of continuous quality improvement methodology to facilitate solutions to optimize use of disposable gloves which will intern prevent or control the spread of infectious diseases. The success of the Sustainability Lead is dependent on the ability of the position to develop a collaborative relationship with health care staff and facilitate quality improvement discussions aimed at optimizing use of disposable gloves.

EDUCATION

  • Baccalaureate/Bachelor degree in Health Sciences or related field preferred
  • Familiarization and operational knowledge with the PIDAC Best Practice for Hand Hygiene in All Health Care Facilities

EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Flexible, organized and self-directed within scope of responsibility; demonstrated initiative and

independent judgment.

  • Exemplary communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships with the ability to persuade, motivate and influence.
  • Sound facilitation and negotiation skills with the proven ability to handle difficult situations with tact, diplomacy and sensitivity.
  • Sound judgment and initiative for priority setting; demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to be an ambassador of best practice initiatives as it relates to all aspects of Infection Prevention and Control.
  • Sound computer skills required.
  • Good work and attendance record required.
