Job Title: Sustainability Manager Location: Melbourne, VIC 3000 Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent About the Role BGIS is seeking an experienced Sustainability Manager to support our client (Victoria Department of Government Services, Accommodation and Library Services) in achieving contractual objectives and KPIs while delivering measurable, long-term sustainability outcomes in the built environment. This role is responsible for driving energy efficiency, emissions reduction, sustainable asset lifecycle management and environmental reporting requirements for our client in alignment with the Victorian Climate Action Act 2017 and the Victorian Asset Management Accountability Framework (AMAF). Key Responsibilities Drive delivery of sustainability outcomes and KPIs for the DGS account in line with contractual and policy obligations. Identify, quantify, and implement opportunities to reduce energy use, emissions, and resource consumption through audits and performance analysis. Improve operational efficiency of building systems (HVAC, lighting, BMS) and support sustainability-focused capital upgrades. Plan, oversee, and verify energy and cost-saving initiatives using industry tools such as NABERS and energy audits. Provide transparent, measurable sustainability reporting to support informed decision-making and compliance. Engage and collaborate with DGS, BGIS teams, client agencies, and contractors to deliver best-value sustainability outcomes. Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication, site visits, and issue resolution. Ensure compliance with all contractual, quality, regulatory, and government requirements. Identify and support conversion of revenue-generating sustainability and energy initiatives. Experience and Qualifications Minimum 5 years’ experience in environmental or sustainability consulting roles within the energy or building services sector. Demonstrated experience working with building performance data, systems, and energy and water analytics, with strong ability to analyse and interpret data. Proven customer service, stakeholder engagement, and sales capability, including strong negotiation, communication, and solution development skills. Strong industry and product knowledge with the ability to engage clients at all levels and translate needs into practical, value-driven solutions. Ability to work autonomously while also collaborating effectively within team-based environments. Degree qualification in Environmental, Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred). Accredited NABERS Assessor (Energy and Water for Offices as a minimum) highly desirable. Green Star Accredited Professional (GSAP), WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP), or other relevant sustainability accreditations highly desirable.
