As our sustainability manager you will play a key role in driving Kuyichi’s sustainability strategy and ensure that our commitment to social and environmental responsibility is put into practice. With your expertise, we keep pushing the boundaries of sustainable fashion and “unfashion the industry”. We believe in coöperation, innovation and responsibility-driven practices.

Kuyichi is a pioneering denim brand, dedicated to creating timeless denim pieces with minimal environmental impact. Since 2000, we’ve been at the forefront of the organic revolution, creating the first jeans made of organic cotton in 2004. We’ve been pushing to “unfashion the industry”. Responsibility is integrated throughout our day-to-day practices. We’re GOTS and GRS-certified and have been recognised as a Fair Wear Leader since 2024! Transparency, honesty and fair partnerships are key values, but we put the product first. Every day, we work with our team to improve both our products and our supply chain. For us, sustainability is less about being perfect and more about continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Strategic development: Develop and lead sustainability projects across the entire supply chain.
Positive impact: Drive progress toward our ambitious environmental and social goals while enhancing Kuyichi’s brand awareness.
Supply chain partnerships: Work closely with suppliers to improve sustainability practices and build long-term, fair partnerships
Due diligence: Continue Kuyichi’s due diligence, manage Fair Wear membership requirements, conduct risk scoping, supplier assessments and training, and ensure ethical labour practices throughout our supply chain.
Environmental impact: Lead our environmental initiatives, including supply chain transparency, LCA calculations, circular business models, and material choices.
Certification: Oversee brand and product certification compliance, including GOTS, GRS, OCS, and Regenagri.
Stakeholder management: Maintain and develop partnerships with multi-stakeholder initiatives, NGOs and industry organisations to advance sustainability goals.
Sustainability communication: Develop clear and transparent communication about our sustainability efforts for both consumers and stakeholders. In written language and as Kuyichi’s spokesperson on sustainability.
Regulatory compliance: Stay current with relevant laws and regulations at the national and international level and ensure implementation.
Industry developments: Analyse sustainability developments within the fashion sector and embed this into policy and practice.
Teamwork: Collaborate with production, design, and marketing colleagues to integrate sustainability into all aspects of our business.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Proven capability to operate at a bachelor’s or master’s level of thinking
3+ years of experience in sustainability management, preferably in fashion or textiles.
Strong knowledge of social compliance, experience with textile certification and Fair
Wear Foundation is a pré
Detail-oriented mindset with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Expertise in sustainable textile production, material innovation and/or supply chain management.
Proven experience in sustainability monitoring and reporting.
Excellent stakeholder management skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English
A big passion for driving positive environmental and social impact, and a love for jeans.
