In this dynamic role, you support the development and implementation of environmental policies and sustainability programs, working closely with Business stakeholders and Corporate Sustainability teams. You play a key role in achieving Philips’ ambitious sustainability goals. As sustainability professional, you are part of the multidisciplinary EHS team (Environment, Health & Safety) at the Philips Campus in Best, where experts work together to create an industry leading site with focus on Health & Safety, Customers, Competitiveness, Sustainability and Talent. You collaborate with various business and functional departments, factories, and external partners to improve environmental performance and drive sustainable initiatives. You drive improvement projects related to waste separation, material reuse, energy efficiency and environmental audits. You ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and other relevant standards, drive audit readiness and contribute to a culture of engagement and sustainable value creation. You play a key role in restoring biodiversity at the Innovation Campus Best. Through initiatives like green landscaping and nature-inclusive design, you help improve the ecological value of the Philips campus and support the company’s sustainability goals. Your role: Strategic and tactical planning: Develop and implement environmental policies and sustainability strategies aligned with business objectives and applicable regulations. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to translate environmental goals into concrete actions on site. Sustainability programs: Coordinate initiatives that reduce the site’s environmental impact, such as energy efficiency, waste separation and reduction, water conservation, biodiversity, and circular procurement. Promote innovation and continuous improvement. Compliance & environmental risks: Stay up to date with environmental legislation and technological developments. Advise management on risks and opportunities. Maintain contact with regulators and ensure timely and accurate reporting and documentation. Assess environmental aspects and propose control measures. Stakeholder management: Work with internal departments, suppliers, and external partners to raise environmental awareness and build support for sustainability initiatives. Foster a culture of responsibility and engagement. Performance monitoring: Track and report environmental and sustainability performance to the leadership team. Conduct analyses to identify trends and improvement opportunities. Training and education: Develop and deliver awareness sessions and training on environmental management, waste separation, and sustainability. Encourage shared ownership and knowledge exchange across the organization. Drive active communication to share results and ensure engagement and a sustainability culture. Certification and standards: Support the achievement and maintenance of environmental certifications such as ISO 14001 and ISO 50001. Ensure compliance with internal and external standards. To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience: Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, environmental technology, or a related field. Have 5–10 years of experience in setting up and executing sustainability and environmental projects within a complex organization. Possess strong knowledge of environmental legislation and risk management, with the ability to translate these into practical applications. Have proven experience in developing and implementing sustainability policies and strategies aligned with business objectives. Can translate corporate sustainability targets into concrete actions at the site level. Have a broad understanding of sustainability, including biodiversity, circular procurement, energy efficiency, water conservation and innovation. Are experienced in monitoring environmental and sustainability performance, conducting data analysis and preparing clear reports with trends and KPIs. Are familiar with certification processes, including ISO 14001 and ISO 50001, and potentially broader ESG reporting. Demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills, working effectively with internal teams, suppliers and external partners. Communicate clearly and persuasively in both Dutch and English, inspiring others toward sustainable change. Have experience in awareness campaigns, training and cultural change related to sustainability.
