Description Ascentec Engineering is hiring a Sustaining Engineer I for our Dallas, Oregon facility. The selected candidate will support daily production activities by assisting with documentation, troubleshooting, and process improvements for legacy and high-volume products. They will focus on enhancing product performance, quality, and efficiency while learning technical skills through hands-on experience and collaboration with senior engineers. This is an ideal opportunity for candidates looking to grow within a structured, fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position on-site (not remote or hybrid) and is not eligible for Visa sponsorship or transfer of Visa sponsorship. Requirements Core Responsibilities: Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and drive root cause analysis to ensure minimal downtime and sustained product integrity. Analyze current manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement, implementing solutions that enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality. Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and cost-reduction projects aimed at enhancing quality and operational efficiency. Create and maintain visual work instructions, engineering change orders (ECOs), and other process-related documentation to support production compliance and traceability. Work closely with production, quality, supply chain, and design teams to address operational challenges and integrate process updates. Support the development, evaluation, and rollout of tooling and fixturing solutions, including feedback on trials and implementation. Represent Sustaining Engineering in daily meetings, improvement events, and team huddles, and contribute to mentoring efforts within the department. Must understand and ensure adherence to regulatory and internal documentation standards (e.g., ISO, ITAR) Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or related field Experience: 6 months or more of experience in a manufacturing environment 6 months or more of experience in sustaining engineering and process improvement 6 months or more of experience in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma projects Knowledge Skills & Abilities: Familiarity with sustaining engineering concepts such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Continuous Improvement (CIP), and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) Trained in basic Computer Aided Design (CAD) software [Siemens NX, CATIA, SolidWorks] Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, along with basic understanding of Geometric and Dimensional Tolerance (GD&T) Exceptional organization and time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously Demonstrated ability of strong problem-solving skills Familiarity in data collection practices and basic statistical tools to support engineering analysis Strong attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Compensation/ Benefits: $53,000 to $89,000 DOE Dental and Medical w/vision coverage insurance plans offered STD/LTD & Life insurance plans offered FSA and DCA available PTO and Holiday pay Immediate 100% vesting Safe Harbor 401(k) retirement saving plan with matching contributions Educational aid program available Purchase discounts, membership discounts, and many other incentives Other Requirements: Applicant must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check prior to employment.
