VPT, Inc., a global leader in providing power conversion solutions for use in avionics, military, space and industrial applications, has an immediate opening for a full-time Sustaining Process Engineer at our Blacksburg, VA headquarters reporting to our Chief Operating Officer.   Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Solve process and material related problems to increase quality, yield, and throughput * Improve or introduce new processes and materials for existing products * Design and manage experiments (DOEs) to validate improvements * Create and edit procedures and other production documentation * Travel (international and domestic) to production facilities to evaluate process and materials Because of the nature of this position a US person is required   VPT offers an excellent benefits package immediately upon full-time hire including health and dental insurance, 401k, disability insurance, life insurance, flexible spending accounts and paid time off.   Salary will be discussed with applicant and is dependent upon experience.   VPT, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/VET/Disability Employer.   Qualifications   Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering or Industrial Engineering  * Previous experience as a Sustaining Process Engineer or equivalent * Background in electronics assembly processes * Understanding of materials used in electronics manufacturing and their interactions with one another (solders, epoxies, platings, etc.) * Understanding of thick-film hybrid technology 
Responsibilities
The Sustaining Process Engineer will solve process and material-related problems to enhance quality, yield, and throughput. They will also improve or introduce new processes and materials for existing products and manage experiments to validate improvements.
