Responsibilities

THE ROLE

As our SVP of Business Development, you’ll own a pivotal role in Lumen’s future. This is more than leadership, it’s a chance to reshape markets, elevate how enterprises engage with technology, and lead a high-performing team into uncharted opportunity. Reporting directly to our Chief Revenue Officer, you’ll architect and execute a next-gen go-to-market strategy that catapults us from core connectivity into full-spectrum technology solutions. This role is pivotal in shaping Lumen’s future by identifying, validating, and scaling market-disruptive opportunities in partnership with product, marketing, sales, and customer experience teams. The SVP will be responsible for building and leading a dedicated team of strategic specialists, solution architects, and innovation principals to drive co-innovation with customers and deliver measurable business outcomes.

THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create, lead and deliver Lumen’s business development strategy to drive growth
  • Lead co-innovation efforts with beta customers to develop and validate high-impact use cases in areas such as multi-cloud networking and ransomware resilience
  • Serve as the executive sponsor for high-priority pursuits, ensuring alignment with executive intent and customer value
  • Translate customer insights into scalable, repeatable solutions that drive revenue and customer success
  • Lead the end-to-end pursuit process—from opportunity identification to implementation and scale
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, and HR to ensure resource alignment, budget adherence, and compliance
  • Drive new revenue streams and profitable growth with bold market strategies
  • Build trusted, high-impact relationships across the C-suite ecosystem
  • Launch powerful partnerships that enhance the value of Lumen’s core offerings (i.e. solutions through market places)
  • Leverage AI and digital transformation trends to elevate our relevance in the market
  • Translate complex data and insights into clear, compelling business cases
  • Build, coach, and empower a world-class business development team
  • Partner with product, marketing, and operations for seamless GTM execution
