REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications:

  • Vocationally relevant HNC (SCQF Level 7) or equivalent and modern apprenticeship certification.
  • Assessor and Verifier Awards (required).
  • A qualification at SCQF Level 9 (desirable).

Experience and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical Engineering and up-to-date expertise through continuous professional development (CPD). Knowledge/experience in other fields of engineering would be an advantage.
  • Previous experience in assessing SVQs within this field.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of candidates and employers.

Responsibilities

As an SVQ Assessor, you will play a key role in the development of candidates, assessing them against National Occupational Standards at Levels 2 and 3. Your duties will include:

  • Monitoring candidate progress, arranging and conducting reassessments in the workplace using a variety of assessment techniques.
  • Maintaining accurate records of attendance and assessments, ensuring all documentation is processed according to College policies and in line with internal and external verification requirements.
  • Carrying out regular workplace visits to support and assess candidates, fostering strong relationships with both candidates and employers.
  • Engaging in the standardisation of assessment evidence to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Communicating progress and attainment effectively with candidates’ line managers, while adhering to strict deadlines and quality standards.
