SW Development Engineer - XEN and Realtime THE ROLE: The right engineer will drive the success of power IP (Intellectual Property) and features in AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) products through leadership & coordination, resolution of technical dependencies, and achievement of schedule commits. This is a high-visibility and widely multi-functional role, spanning pre-silicon architecture to post-silicon implementation & product delivery. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: • 8+ years in Embedded Linux system software / kernel driver development • Strong proficiency in C and Linux kernel debugging • Hands on Xen virtualization experience: o Dom0 kernel, drivers, and I/O virtualization concepts o DomU integration and guest driver considerations • Strong understanding of real time Linux fundamentals: o Determinism vs throughput tradeoffs o Latency/jitter sources and mitigation approaches • Experience with PREEMPT_RT kernels and RT tuning: o IRQ threading, priority inheritance, RT mutex behavior o CPU isolation, affinity, cpusets/cgroups, NOHZ/full tickless concepts • Solid driver level expertise in one or more: o Ethernet (MAC/PHY, DMA, interrupts, NAPI) o PCIe / IOMMU / MSI X o Storage (NVMe/SATA) or high speed I/O o Industrial I/O (SPI/I2C/UART/GPIO) under timing constraints • Strong experience using performance/latency tools: o ftrace, perf, trace-cmd, cyclictest (and equivalents) • Experience with Yocto BSPs (kernel config, recipe integration, reproducible builds) ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering or equivalent #LI-PK1 Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.
