As a Visa Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. While building components of powerful payment technology, you will get to see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions. The Work itself: Engage with product, architects, developers, QA, Operations & Infrastructure teams from the start of the SDLC phase. Become subject matter expert for the assigned product(s) with detailed functional and architectural knowledge Deliver code instrumentation related dev features to enable teams to do monitoring and alerting setup in production Set up the application code to deliver bug fixes, platform enhancements related features (perf enhancements, scalability, resiliency etc.) in production. Perform thorough investigation of defects, drive RCAs and lead code changes to fix production incidents Performing proactive analysis of products by gathering and analyzing metrics. As a result, identify product improvements and collaborate with teams to improve product reliability. Contribute towards reducing the operational toil through tools and automation for productivity gains. Engage with tech and non-tech partners on regular basis to analyze functional and technical solutions. Understand new changes in production systems and assess its risk from application perspective to drive reliability and availability Be a continuous learner and develop the technical expertise in application and infra technologies. Essential Functions: Demonstrates basic knowledge and asks questions about project requirements. Reviews and asks questions about solution strategies that improve the design and functionality of a product feature. Works under close guidance from others to perform the code bug fixes and deliver low-medium product features. Identifies and sets up holistic application observability Focuses on identifying and automating repeated workflows or tasks to reduce the burden of toil Supports & document the incident triaging and helping drive the RCA This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Bachelors degree, OR 3+ years of relevant work experience. Responsibilities
Software Engineers will engage with cross-functional teams throughout the SDLC, becoming subject matter experts to deliver code instrumentation for monitoring and alerting, and setting up application code for bug fixes and platform enhancements in production. Responsibilities also include performing defect investigations, driving Root Cause Analyses (RCAs), proactively analyzing products via metrics gathering, and contributing to toil reduction through automation.
