Flexible schedule Opportunity for advancement Training & development Position Duties: Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator and/or Recreation Leader, Head Guard, or Lead Lifeguard on duty; the swim assistant/slide attendant is responsible for assisting with swim lessons and the operation of the water slide to meet the demands of the general public. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following are examples of primary duties assigned to this position. Other related duties may be assigned. Assists swim lesson instructor during swim lessons with class organization, lesson planning, and safety of participants. Ensures equipment and materials for swim lessons are ready and available at the start of each class. Maintains eyes on swim lesson participants at all times during classes. Responsible for operating the top of the water slide. Understands and enforces water slide rules and regulations. Assist in maintaining water slide is in safe and working conditions and performs safety checks of water slide. Ensures safe and orderly conduct and a safe environment for all patrons using aquatics facilities. Assists patrons with basic first aid as necessary, and assists lifeguards as needed with patrons who are in distress and/or need lifesaving measures. Maintains a professional demeanor at all times and makes an effort to establish a positive rapport with participants, spectators, and other fellow staff. Works as a team with other aquatics staff to carry out program goals. Attends required training. Communicates with the Lead’s if there are any questions, problems, or issues that arise. Position Qualifications: Must be at least 14 years of age. Must be comfortable in water and be able to swim the length of the pool. Training will be provided to those without experience. Must be able to work evenings and weekends. Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and/or walk, sit, talk, hear, read, and write. May periodically need to reach, stoop, crouch, or kneel. Employee may be asked to lift/carry and/or move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
