Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Delivering swimming lessons and coaching to students of all ages and levels during curriculum PE & Health lessons.
  • Delivering swimming lessons and coaching to students of all ages and levels as part of the co-curricular enrichment programme.
  • Coaching swim teams at all levels.
  • Promoting the swim programme, and swimming more generally, amongst the school community.
  • Assisting with the supervision of the pool area and enforcing pool safety rules.
  • Assisting in the planning, organisation, and delivery of co-curricular swimming sessions, swimming team events, competitions, galas (home or away), weekend swimming sessions and other swimming-related activities.
  • Supporting the Aquatics Coordinator and the Director of Sport in the achievement of the school’s swim programme objectives and development goals.

ADMINISTRATIVE AND GENERAL DUTIES

  • Assisting with administrative tasks in the Sport and PE & Health Department, as directed.
  • Communicating effectively with students, parents and colleagues by responding promptly to letters, emails and queries and by attending relevant meetings and other events.
  • Ensuring that all departmental materials and equipment are in good, safe working order and are stored safely and securely.
  • Assisting with the organisation of departmental events, such as Sports Day.
  • Assisting with the planning and organising of departmental trips.
  • Assisting with the logistics related to visiting practitioners.
  • Attending staff meetings as appropriate to the role.
  • Escorting students to and from the medical centre or hospital when necessary.
  • Participating in in-service training as appropriate to the role.

OTHER DUTIES

  • Maintaining confidentiality and observing data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.
  • Observing all practices relating to child protection, security, fire and emergency and Health and Safety.
  • Understanding and complying with all other relevant school policies.
  • Carrying out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function, commensurate with the level of responsibilities of the post.
