Description We are looking for fun, friendly, and enthusiastic swim coaches to join our youth summer programs! As a youth swim coach, you will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction, motivating and encouraging young swimmers, and creating a positive and inclusive team environment. Flexibility and adaptability are key as you’ll be working with swimmers of different ages and skill levels. If you’re a passionate swimmer and team player who enjoys helping young athletes reach their full potential, this could be the perfect summer job for you! We will need swim coaches to lead our Advanced Swim Camp for children ages 7-14 years old, and our summer swim team, Mavericks, for ages 5-18 years old. The shifts are: Advanced Swim Camp: Monday-Friday 8:45 am-12:15 pm (must be able to commit to at least 4 weeks) Mavericks Summer Swim Team: Swim Practice is held Monday-Friday from 3:00-5:45 pm, with the exception of Thursdays, when we have swim meets. Coaches are required to attend meets. *Please note that Mavericks coaches must be able to travel to other locations for swim meets (typically on Thursdays). Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ability to coach proper swimming technique in a safe, positive, and encouraging manner to various levels and age groups Observe swimmers during practice to teach and correct mistakes, demonstrating skills as needed Attend local travel meets and social events for the Mavericks Team Engage participants in a challenging, but fun and friendly environment Responsible for the set-up and clean-up of practice areas and swim meets Excellent communication skills with children and adults Attend staff and training meetings as required Ability to create and adapt swim sets and workouts for different ages and skill levels Other duties as assigned Perks/Benefits Starting wage is $23 per hour Paid training Flexible schedule: multiple weeks and shift opportunities to choose from Fun, supportive, and team-oriented work environment Outdoor environment Commuter and public transportation-friendly locations Requirements Advanced Swim Camp work requirement: 4 weeks (minimum) Mavericks work requirement: 7 weeks (minimum) Must have reliable transportation to attend away meets (Mavericks) Must be punctual, responsible, and maintain a positive attitude Self-starter, able to perform tasks with minimal oversight Must be an effective communicator with staff, students, and parents as appropriate Experience working with children in creating a positive environment for their development is a plus Competitive swim experience Able to swim and demonstrate all four strokes Must be a minimum of 15 years of age
Responsibilities
Coaches are responsible for providing high-quality swim instruction, motivating young swimmers, and maintaining a positive and inclusive team environment for various age groups and skill levels.
