Position Summary:
The Swim Instructor I is an entry-level position designed for individuals beginning their aquatics instruction experience. Under the supervision of senior staff, the Instructor I assists in planning and delivering swim lessons in alignment with the national YMCA Swimming Program. This role focuses on creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment while helping swimmers develop foundational skills and water confidence. Swim Instructor I is ideal for teens or first-time instructors and emphasizes modeling the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in every class.
Qualifications:
This position requires knowledge and familiarity with water safety regulations and certifications in each of the following areas:
Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
Demonstrated ability to swim proficiently
Enthusiastic and responsible; enjoys working with children
Current CPR/First Aid/AED
Valid Work Permit
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $17.50 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 29 per week
