Description Everyone knows the pool is the coolest place to be in the summer. Join our Aquatics Team to make sure everyone can enjoy the pool in a safe and welcoming environment. Whether you’re a lifeguard, a swim instructor, or a little bit of both, you’re going to love working in aquatics at the Y because you’re helping swimmers feel confident and gain experience in the water. No lifeguard experience? No problem, we’ll train you! POSITION DESCRIPTION: Join our team as a Swim Instructor and help individuals of all ages develop essential swimming skills in a safe and supportive environment. This role offers the opportunity to teach at both our indoor pool at the Y and the outdoor Stillwater City Pool during the summer, providing a dynamic and rewarding experience for passionate swim educators. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct group swim lessons for children, teens, and adults, tailored to various skill levels Ensure the safety of all participants by enforcing pool rules and supervising activities Develop and implement lesson plans that promote skill development, water safety, and confidence Maintain a clean and organized pool area, adhering to health and safety standards Communicate effectively with participants and parents regarding progress and safety guidelines Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of learners and ensure an inclusive environment We foster a positive, inclusive culture that values growth, teamwork, and community engagement. Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be certified in PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid (Training provided by the Y, if needed) Must be 16 years of age and show technical ability in swim skill instruction Previous experience teaching swim lessons or working with groups in a aquatic setting preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to motivate and encourage participants of all ages Reliable, responsible, and able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends Knowledge of water safety practices and swimming techniques
