Our 3 operating businesses (The Plex Athletic Club, Sports, and The Penalty Box Bar and Grill) offers 240,000 square feet of entertainment space under one roof where you will find everything you need for fun, fitness, family activities, food & beverage, parties, and social events. Open 7-days a week, our facility offers an arcade of games, bocce ball, bouncy houses, wall climbing, cornhole, darts, pizza, sushi, tapas, a vast beer wall and so much more. We are looking for a swim instructor who will participants of all ages and abilities how to swim and how to stay safe in and around water. They ensure a positive learning experience for every student. The swim instructors observe and enforce all facility rules and regulations to prevent accidents or emergency situations. Duties/Responsibilities: Instruct water safety and swimming techniques in the water while adhering to the American Red Cross curriculum and guidelines as applicable. Teach swimming techniques, swimming strokes, and water safety rules to students with varying swimming abilities. Use all teaching aids and props; ensure that all equipment and supplies are properly stored after usage Evaluate, record and communicate each student’s progress to them. For children, communicate progress to parents with recommendations for future class placement. Complete and present “report cards” to children at end of session Engage and retain members in aquatics programming. Promote aquatic programs involvement to all participants and develop clientele through referrals. Ensure that students comply with all pool rules. Monitor students to prevent accidents and injuries. Use any of the club’s rescue or safety equipment when needed. Identify hazards and unsafe practices and make recommendations for minimizing or eliminating hazards and follow all emergency action plans. Ensure that the swimming pool and locker rooms are kept clean and tidy. Attain and maintain required certifications in Water Safety Instruction and CPR. Complete all required administrative work and telephone work by requested deadlines. Report any pool or aquatics equipment problems or needs to the Aquatics Manager Participate in ongoing instructor training provided by the club. Other responsibilities or projects as assigned by the Aquatics Manager Qualifications Required Skills/Abilities: Swimming Skills Instructor or trainer skills Customer Service Obsession with excellent interpersonal skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Up to one-year related experience in direct field. Current CPR certification is desirable Physical Requirements: Pass the WSI and CPR certification courses. Stand and walk for prolonged periods (on deck or in pool) Prolonged periods of working inside pool water, may be up to entire shift Work outdoors and exposed to sun for prolonged periods. Must be observant to all member activities and surroundings with a keen eye, prepared for any emergency response. Hold and support an adult or child in the water. Project voice across a crowded, noisy pool, on a sustained basis Set-up and take-down of light equipment. Communication and interpersonal skills. Strong leadership and team management abilities. Detail-oriented and highly organized. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
