Position Purpose Under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Part-Time Junior. Swim Staff position supports our Clubhouse by providing program and departmental support to the Aquatics Department as a Swim Instructor for the Learn-to-Swim Program. Key Responsibilities Swim Instruction to youth ages 6-18 at the Don Fisher Clubhouse which may require you to teach in and out of the water. Lifeguarding recreational swim and/or learn-to-swim programs. Using safe and appropriate teaching methods to youth which align with BGCSF Core Values. Keep youth safe in and out of the water before, after and during swim lessons. Attend any training particular to the position. Requirements KEY ROLES (ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES): Program Management -30 % Running a learn-to-swim class for youth ages 6-18 using teaching methods designed by Senior Aquatics Staff to safely and effectively teach youth how to swim. Lifeguarding a recreational swim program keeping youth safe. Administering first aid when needed. Communicating with youth, both inside and outside of the pool on how to follow swim rules and protocols. Providing attendance to Senior Staff Facility Management -20 % Understanding of and ability to operate pool equipment used for programming Maintain cleanliness of the pool area, including changing rooms. May open and close the facility Day to Day Leadership -20 % Communication and enforcement of rules to members Provision of appropriate emergency care Other duties as assigned Required Skills Experience teaching swim lessons to youth Preferred Skills Language skills Physical Requirements Proof of COVID-19 vaccination upon employment. Must know how to swim proficiently. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. (15 lbs for admin) Must be able to stand for at least 2 hours consecutively. (1 hour for admin) Must be able to sit at a computer workstation for long periods of time. At BGCSF, our decisions are based on other factors and dependant on circumstances for each position. Depending on the need and requirement of the position, an individual could be hired at or near the entry level, mid - level or top of the range for their role and compensation.
