Description We are WSSRA and we provide recreation programs for adults and children who have a physical impairment, a mental disability, or any other type of disability! We are looking for staff to work our swim programs! We have Swim Programs on: Monday - 3:45pm-5:15pm - Berwyn Friday - 3:45pm-5:15pm - Berwyn Monday - 7:15pm-9:25pm - Oak Park WSSRA conducts swim lessons to allow all individuals to progress from beginner to advanced swimming abilities. Our swim lessons cover fundamental body positions, breath control, stroke drills, and age-appropriate safety skills while emphasizing swimming as fun and enjoyable. By using the Michael Phelps IM program, our lessons are designed for gradual skill progression and goal setting. *We have other kinds of recreational shifts available as well IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Program Supervisor HOURS: Varied: mornings, after school, evenings and weekends PAY RATE: $15/hour DOQ. Based upon experience and education. JOB PURPOSE: The Recreation Leader is responsible for initiating hands-on involvement of persons with disabilities in all WSSRA program activities. QUALIFICATIONS: 16 years old Positive attitude towards individuals with disabilities Ability to work independently with direction from supervisor Dependable and punctual Enthusiastic, willingness to learn and participate fully Previous experience working with persons who have disabilities or related experience preferred Requirements ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB: Commitment to seasonal program(s) as assigned, including all orientation sessions Participate fully and encourage active involvement with participants in all program activities Assist with daily living skills, which may include toileting, feeding, dressing, transferring and pushing participant in wheelchair Supporting WSSRA risk management program by watching for the general safety of all participants Working in cooperation with the supervisor in setting up, carrying out and cleaning up program activities Maintain confidentiality regarding participants Transport self to and from program locations Other duties as assigned
Responsibilities
The Recreation Leader is responsible for engaging individuals with disabilities in swim programs and ensuring their safety during activities. This includes assisting with daily living skills and maintaining a positive and inclusive environment.
