Description MPCC swim team coaches are responsible for assisting in all coaching efforts of the Myers Park Sharks swim team. We look for individuals that are able to provide a fun and inclusive environment for our swim team families. Swimmers range from 4 years to 18 years of age, and the team is typically 225-250 swimmers each summer season. Responsibilities include age-group coaching duties with emphasis on safety, proper skill development, team member development, seasonal planning, daily workouts, organizing meet information, and more. 2026 Availability May 4–June 18 Practices: Mon–Thurs, 4–7pm (switch to Mon/Wed once meets begin) Meets: Tues/Thurs evenings, May 26–June 11 Finals: Championship meet on June 16 + Awards Banquet on June 18 Additional: Occasional weekend clinics and championship prep Requirements Enforce team rules and policies, as well as pool rules and regulations Ensure the safety of swim team members, administering first aid procedures when necessary Conduct swim team workouts and provide instruction to swim team members Train swimmers on safe swimming practices and ensure team member adherence Give swimmers knowledge to understand and master strokes Provide corrective feedback that will enhance swimmers’ techniques and skills Maintain structure and discipline, while encouraging and promoting participation in a positive manner Help setup and run swim meets and assist with submission of meet entries Perform various clerical duties in support of the swim team such as responding to parents’ and swimmers’ questions and memos, creating workouts, taking attendance Qualifications: At least 4 years of competitive swimming experience at US Swimming - high school or college level Effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with swimmers of all ages, parents, fellow employees, etc. Continuous standing and walking, some swimming Ability to focus in a busy, noisy environment
