JOB SUMMARY

Brentwood School Sports Centre is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Swimming Teacher to help children aged 3 to 16 develop confidence, proper swimming techniques, and essential skills in a pool environment.
The role involves evaluating each student’s ability and progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining attendance and progress records in line with STA criteria and Sports Centre’s policies. The ideal candidate will be able to plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to various skill levels while demonstrating patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to motivate students to reach their swimming goals. The teacher must be able to adapt lessons for individual needs and correct swimming techniques for front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke.
As a Swimming Teacher at Brentwood School Sports Centre, you must have a thorough understanding of the Centre’s operational procedures, including the Emergency Action Plan. Ensuring the highest level of duty of care and maintaining safe practices and a safe learning environment for the pupils within your charge is a key responsibility of this role.
Further opportunities exist for additional course tuition and one-to-one lesson instruction, subject to performance within the role.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to policies and procedures outlined in the Pool Safety Operating Procedures (PSOP).
  • Provide clear safety instructions to all pool users throughout their visit.
  • Maintain the highest level of duty of care and ensure safe practices are followed by students in your charge.
  • Establish an effective teacher-student relationship to promote engagement and learning.
  • To deliver highest possible quality of swimming instruction to enhance the Learn to Swim Programme.
  • Implement the Centre’s Learn to Swim Programme efficiently.
  • Assess individual and / or group performance throughout lessons and provide constructive feedback.
  • Accurately record relevant student progress and lesson information as required by the Swim School Coordinator.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the Swim School Coordinator, management team, school teachers, and operational staff to support a positive and professional environment.
  • Use provided equipment in accordance with training, with particular regard towards health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure the correct usage and storage of swimming equipment.
  • Maintain open communication and cooperation with the Management Team.
