Job Description JOB OBJECTIVE: The Farm Manager is responsible for supervising, directing and managing the operation of the breeder and nursery farms by creating and implementing systems to achieve the targeted production efficiency and cost of production. The Farm Manager is responsible for ensuring high standards of animal welfare and adherence to biosecurity protocols. This role involves managing farm staff, budgeting, and maintaining facilities and equipment. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages and oversees the swine production process and farm operations in order to achieve the targeted production performance. Oversee breeding programs to ensure genetic quality and productivity. Ensures appropriate Inventory management system is in place, correct inventory level is maintained and variances are within acceptable threshold. Ensures appropriate data processing system is in place and accuracy of recorded data, information and reports generated is maintained. Implement health protocols, monitor swine health, and administer vaccinations and treatments as needed. Leads the swine production team and collaborates with other concerned teams to ensure proper maintenance and upkeep of the farm facilities. Ensure all farming equipment is regularly inspected, maintained, and repaired. Ensures that appropriate biosecurity protocols are in place, implemented and complied to and collaborates with concerned teams for the implementation of physical security. Prepare and present reports on farm performance and productivity. Monitors, evaluates and provides feedback on the performance of the third-party manpower provider to ensure it's within agreed service level commitment. Prepares a sound budget proposal and implements approved budget, ensuring proper cost management. Assess and address risk opportunities applicable to the farm and proportionate the impact to the organization. Responds to farm-related community concerns by recommending and executing appropriate actions to address the concern. PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT: Supervises, monitors and evaluates the performance of direct reports. Builds IDP and provides intervention for the development and growth of direct reports Performs other work-related tasks as may be assigned from time to time. FOOD SAFETY: Ensuring that the Quality Policy and Quality Objectives are established for the Integrated Management System and are compatible with the context and strategic direction of the organization; Ensuring the integration of the quality management system requirements into the organization’s business processes; Promoting the use of the process approach and risk-based thinking; Ensuring that the resources needed for the quality management system are available; Communicating the importance of effective quality management and of conforming to the quality management system requirements; Ensuring that the quality management system achieves its intended results; Engaging, directing and supporting persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the quality management system; Promoting improvement; Supporting other relevant management roles to demonstrate their leadership as it applies to their areas of responsibility. OTHER TASKS: Actively participate in all company programs and activities under quality improvement, safety & security, sustainability, corporate social responsibility, risk management etc. Performs other tasks as may be assigned by the immediate superior. Qualifications Education: Must be a graduate of any of the following courses: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (licensed) ; Bachelor of Science in Agriculture – Major in Animal Science; Bachelor of Science in Animal Husbandry; or Agri-related courses Experience: At least five (5) years supervisory experience in a 2,000 sow or more level swine farm At least two (2) years exposure in managerial work in a swine farm Licenses: None Other Requirements: Thorough knowledge of all phases of the swine production process Thorough knowledge of farm operations Above average computer skills (word, excel and ppt or its equivalent) Very good communication skills (verbal and written) Above average numerical skills Very good leadership abilities Above average management abilities Very good problem solving and analysis Fast Tempo Highly detail-oriented WORK CONDITIONS: Physical Effort: Moderate physical effort, working with moderate heavy weight (10 to 20kg) Working Conditions and Hazards: Occasional exposure to some disagreeable elements Additional Information Willing to work in a stay-in setup (26/4) #LS-MS1
