Description Summary: The Switch Gear Draftsman is a specialized technical professional who creates detailed drawings, schematics, diagrams, and other related items for the Marine industry. This position works closely with engineers as they translate conceptual sketches into actionable production layouts, ensuring all designs comply with safety standards and regulatory rules. Essential Job Functions: Create detailed drawings and schematics using AutoCAD or other relevant software. Collaborate with engineers to understand project requirements and specifications. Ensure compliance with industry standards and codes in all drafted plans. Review and revise drawings based on feedback from project stakeholders. Assist in the preparation of project documentation and reports. Run the CNC machine, nameplate engraver, and create wire markers. Competencies: Technical drafting and CAD proficiency Marine systems knowledge Marine engineering and design principles Collaboration and soft skills Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Requirements Educational & Experience Requirements: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required, with a focus on mathematics, physics, and computer science, preferred by an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree or a technical diploma in Drafting, CAD Technology, or Marine Technology. Specialized training in marine-specific systems. Generally, 2-5 years of experience is required for intermediate roles, producing schematics, diagrams, and 2D/3D layouts using AutoCad inventor. Physical Requirements: Ability to move around within the office setting, work in the shop, or travel to attend meetings, conferences, or other business-related events. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds at times. Must be able to access various departments of a given location. Must be able to effectively communicate with team members, vendors, and other stakeholders, both in person and through digital communication platforms.
