SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

Lead the synthesis group, by organizing, assigning, and tracking projects and provide assistance as needed to the group

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Master’s degree in chemistry preferred. Bachelor’s degree acceptable with appropriate level of experience.
• 7-10 years’ experience in a chemical laboratory
• Previous management experience highly desired
• 3-6 years’ experience in surfactant chemistry is highly desiredExperience with epichlorohydrin chemistry is beneficial.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Organize, assign, and track synthesis projects
• Perform duties of Synthesis chemist
• Manage department budgets
• Write reports on experiments and be able to communicate the results to management and customers
• Innovate new products and processes
• Mentor and develop chemists
• Be able to work and communicate effectively with personnel from quality control, production, marketing, and management
• Interact with sales representatives and customers to address technical issues and explore innovations
• Occasional travel to trade shows or customer visits with sales personnel may be required
