POSITION SUMMARY

Bio-Techne is a world-leading developer and manufacturer of high-quality biological reagents and we are seeking an experienced Synthetic Organic Chemist to join our chemistry team in Bristol. We are looking for a vibrant and dynamic person to join our highly skilled and experienced team of chemists working on product development for Tocris (a Bio-Techne Brand), including complex syntheses of biologically active small molecules (chemical probes and tools) and novel custom synthesis work for both internal research initiatives and external clients.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • PhD degree in organic chemistry (or closely related discipline)
  • Related industrial experience preferable
  • Detailed knowledge of organic chemistry
  • Knowledge of, and adherence to, required quality and safety standards
  • High level of personal and independent productivity
  • Decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Practical ability and analytical data interpretation skills

Location: Bristol, UK
Hours of Work: Permanent Full Time (37.5 hours per week)

KEY & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Achieve targets of product quantity and quality within an agreed timescale and budget
  • Generate, collate, and analyse data on synthesis steps and final products using our extensive in-house facilities
  • Generate high quality project reports for internal and external customers and detail work in electronic laboratory notebooks and other documentation
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders on workload, prioritisation, and progress
  • Work in a safe, tidy, and responsible manner, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
