Job Description Job Summary: The System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, maintenance and patching of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure for our ESX, Microsoft Windows & LINUX based platform. This person participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. The System Administrator ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures comply with internal and external standards and security requirements. Responsibilities and Tasks: Engineering of solutions for internal project and operational needs. Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements. Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures. Contribute to and maintain system standards. Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions. Support daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary. Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary. Provide escalation support per request from various sources; investigate and troubleshoot issues. Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Other tasks as assigned by management. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer application 6-15 years of experience in similar field with large / multinational organization. Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task. Strong communication skills Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty. Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience in problem resolution with IT systems and individuals Ability to interact with users in a clear, concise, professional manner. Familiarity with a majority of the following: Microsoft Windows Server Datacenter 2016 Microsoft Windows Server Datacenter 2012 R2 Troubleshooting ESX issues related to storage, network and performance issues. Managing the use of virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V Manage Active Directory group, user and computer objects, the AD Schema Internet Information Server (IIS) Windows DNS / BIND / Named Active Directory / LDAP Redhat Linux Solid understanding and working knowledge of complete systems development and deployment lifecycle and of all facets of systems administration in a large-scale IT operation unit Additional Information VMware & Microsoft Certification would be given preference.
