Grab the opportunity to immerse yourself in an environment where our developers, product team and client facing project teams work with state of the art parametric tooling, skill building, and integral functional design.
This role reports to the Head of Technology and is a key player in the IT operations of OMRT. You will make sure that every employee of OMRT is able to perform their daily work from a technology perspective, enabling us to deliver the results that our clients are accustomed to. You will be part of a small to mid-sized company where you can navigate increasingly complex projects and collaborate with various teams seamlessly, making a significant impact in our industry and for our clients.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
Security Mindset: A proactive approach to system security, including patching, vulnerability management, and implementing best practices.
Documenting: Ability to create clear and concise documentation for systems, configurations, and procedures.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with users, colleagues, and vendors.
Automation Focus: A drive to automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree as a minimum: Preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
A Master’s degree in a relevant field is a plus.
Relevant certifications in Cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), or any relevant courses / bootcamps.

Responsibilities

Capacity Planning: Proactively assessing future growth needs and planning for scalable infrastructure (servers, storage, network bandwidth) to accommodate increased user load, data volume, and application demands.
Automation and Scripting: Implementing robust automation tools and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, Terraform) to streamline deployments, configurations, monitoring, and routine maintenance tasks.
Networking Essentials: Working with core networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls), including Ubiquiti Unifi networking hardware (e.g., access points, switches, routers).
Virtualisation and Containerisation: Extensive use and management of virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V, Portainer, Proxmox) and containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) to maximize resource utilisation, ensure application portability, and facilitate rapid deployment.
Identity and Access Management (IAM): Implementing robust IAM solutions to manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls across systems. This often involves single sign-on (SSO) and multi-factor authentication (MFA). Proficient in administering and managing Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) for organisational collaboration and productivity.
Compliance Adherence: Ensuring that the IT infrastructure complies with relevant industry regulations, data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR), and internal security policies, which become more critical as the company grows and handles more data.
Proactive Monitoring and Alerting: Deploying sophisticated monitoring tools to track system performance, network health, application responsiveness, and resource utilization in real-time.
Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning: Developing, testing, and maintaining comprehensive disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in the event of major outages or data loss.
Inter-departmental Collaboration: Working closely with development teams (DevOps practices), product teams, and other business units (HR, Finance, Marketing, Sales) to understand their needs, integrate new technologies, and support new product launches.
We are looking for someone who has Systems Administration experience in mid- to large-sized companies. A background in computer science, engineering, or software development is required (not industry-specific). A strong understanding of core networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls) is essential. General networking experience is a must. Experience with Ubiquiti Unifi networking hardware (e.g., access points, switches, routers) is a plus.
