Located in Denison, Iowa, Professional Computer Solutions, LLC develops, trains and supports financial accounting software and customer information system and billing applications for the utility industry. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A two or four-year degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Networking/Security is preferred.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong computer networking background with state-of-the-art Microsoft software skills.
  • Microsoft certification would be beneficial but not required.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies.
  • At times, work before or after normal working hours and from remote locations.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Internet knowledge and ability to maintain websites.
  • Must be flexible with problem-solving skill sets and the ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel 10% - 15% of work period.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and mouse, 10-key adding machine, or other office equipment.
  • Visual acuity to read words and numbers from paper or computer screen.
  • Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person and over the phone.
  • Ability to transport self, personal luggage, and laptop computer when traveling to a client site or conference.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds.

Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance to all end-users in resolving network operational problems and questions.
  • Stay abreast of industry-wide technological developments.
  • Maintaining current inventories of the software and hardware components that make up Information Technology.
  • Conduct capacity monitoring and planning for all systems. Troubleshoot systems problems.
  • Install new software and upgrade existing software.
  • Provide support to Company personnel in staging event network/equipment, outage management, and general “help desk” assistance in the day-to-day activities.
  • Provide consultation and assistance to all end-user departments in resolving network operational problems and questions.
  • Recommend security procedures to each end-user.
  • Monitor operations of all computers and software to ensure compliance with security policies.
  • Add approved new users to systems.
  • Stage and deploy systems.
  • Manage security enforcement for IT Service Providers that exchange data with PCS.
  • Deploy, manage, and monitor technical security safeguards justified by the PCS risk assessment. At a minimum, technical safeguards will include perimeter security, access controls, vulnerability management, configuration management, virus protection, and event log analysis and reporting.
  • The System Administrator will maintain and summarize the following Information Technology activities:
  • Daily troubleshooting logs.
  • Maintenance of risk controls, including firewalls, access controls, virus protection, policy enforcement, and vulnerability management.
  • Security monitoring reports. All systems are to be monitored for possible breaches of security policy.
  • Software licensing information.
  • Maintain daily backup systems and business continuation support.
  • Continue Database Administration duties as assigned.
