The Role
Key Responsibilities IT Operations & Daily Maintenance - Monitor infrastructure health: servers, storage, virtual machines (VMs), containers, and services. - Handle incidents and service requests received on helpdesk. - Perform routine maintenance, patching, and updates for both Windows and Linux systems. - Ensure backup integrity and perform restoration activities when necessary. - Maintain up-to-date documentation for standard procedures and troubleshooting guides. Server & Desktop Administration - Manage and support Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu) and Windows Server/Desktop (10/11) environments. - Administer user accounts, Active Directory (AD), Group Policies (GPOs), and system security. - Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, operating system, and application-level issues. - Maintain file servers, shared folders, and endpoint security tools. Virtualization & Container Infrastructure - Operate and maintain VMware vSphere environments (vCenter, ESXi). - Support container workloads on Red Hat OpenShift: deployment, monitoring, log analysis. - Provision and manage virtual machines, templates, and snapshots. Cloud Platform Support - Provide operational support across Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Amazon AWS. - Assist with provisioning, monitoring, and maintaining cloud-based services and resources. - Participate in hybrid cloud operations and support automation/migration initiatives. Automation & Monitoring - Use scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate recurring administrative tasks. - Monitor infrastructure with tools like Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, or cloud-native alternatives. - Configure alerts and build proactive response workflows for issue resolution. Network & Security Operations - Collaborate on configuring firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, and core network services (DNS, DHCP). - Support vulnerability management, patching, and security policy enforcement. - Help implement endpoint protection solutions and assist with audits or compliance checks.
Requirements
Qualifications – Must-Have - 5+ years of experience as a System Administrator or in an IT Operations role. - Proficient in managing Linux and Windows Server/Desktop environments. - Practical experience with VMware vSphere and at least one cloud provider (Azure, GCP, or AWS). - Strong understanding of core networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, VPN). - Ability to write and use scripts in PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation. Qualifications – Nice-to-Have - Experience with Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes environments. - Familiarity with automation tools like Ansible or Terraform. - Exposure to enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault). - Relevant certifications: VCP, RHCSA, Azure Administrator Associate, or similar. Soft Skills - Excellent problem-solving and incident handling capabilities. - Strong self-management and organizational skills. - Clear communication and good technical documentation practices. - Customer-focused with the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
