THE ROLE: As a System Power Engineer in our Client Systems Power and Performance Engineering team, you will ensure our solutions deliver the Best Possible Product. RESPONSIBILITIES: Drive targeted battery life and power characterization, analysis, & attainment for Client products with continuous test, debug, analysis, & defect resolution throughout the course of a project Engage with cross-functional leadership & teams to integrate your deliverables with other project work streams Implement strategies & test plans for product-specific power scenarios, features, and target market spaces as appropriate; identify risks & build mitigation plans Hands-on characterization and debug to root cause power (and at times performance) challenges; collaborate with peer teams to analyze behaviors and resolve issues Support cross-functional technical teams with targeted ad hoc analyses through hands-on testing Develop strong partnerships with program stakeholders across the organization and development partners Collaborate with other engineers on common program test & debug activities and process improvements Focus on PC system component optimization (WIFI, Audio, Display, NVMe, Memory, camera etc…) PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: SoC architectural characterization, analysis, & debug Direct technical experience on system power optimization and micro-architectural power management Power delivery and voltage regulator efficiency design experience is a plus Experience with power measurement methodologies and data acquisition equipment Product development with hardware platforms and their software & firmware ecosystems Experience in the PC architecture space and familiarity with hands-on system setup & testing Excellent verbal communication and written, presentation skills Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, planning, and technical management skills Proven ability to deliver large cross-functional technical analyses Ability to analyze large amounts of data to extract relevant test data and results Experience working in a fast-paced matrixed technical organization and multi-site environment ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Computer Science or Computer or Electrical Engineering preferred with 3-7 years industry experience This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. #LI-LB1 Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.
