Job Description:
System Development for optical sensors
Embedded Software and System Development for opto-electronic components and sensors, senior level.

More specific duties include the following:

  • Product design starting at sensor physics and integrating optical / mechanical design with application firmware
  • Firmware and Software development for sensor applications, with focus on (but not limited to) optical Time-of-Flight / Lidar systems, spectrometers and new detector technologies for industrial optical sensing and communication systems
  • Software and System testing including test automatization
  • Defining System and Software specifications based on customer requirements
  • Project management, workpackage definition, timeplanning and regular status reporting
  • Contribution to Definition of measurement infrastructure and support of application testing as well as electrical / optical characterization
  • Contribution to concept development of new ASICs for optical sensors
  • Contribution to System engineering and concept development including modeling of sensor physics and suitable signal processing algorithms
  • Contribution to the definition of production processes together with suppliers, with the Broadcom manufacturing team and our worldwide contract manufacturing partners
  • Issue product documentation, specification and application notes

Desired proficiency in the following skills:

  • Strong technical background in optical semiconductor design, sensor physics, processing and production
  • High interest in Sensor System Design including Software algorithm definition and implementation/test, potential to define new architectures
  • Experience with embedded systems and software testing
  • Knowledge of application development and graphical user interfaces in the field of lab testing, using script languages (e.g. Phyton) and/or C++, C#
  • Laboratory experience in prototyping and electrical/optical measurement
  • Know how in the field of optical measurement and test setup integration
  • Broad interest in interdisciplinary work interfacing to electronics, optics, mechanical structures, and communication systems
  • Self-contained, accurate working style and ability to integrate into teams across different functions and locations

  • English communication skills, both verbal and written. Prepared to learn German and acquire German communication skills.
