ABB Measurement & Analysis in Quebec is a world leader in spectroscopy and the largest Canadian supplier of space optical sensors used, among other things, for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions and weather forecasting.
Our plant is also recognized for its expertise in developing and manufacturing various products that meet several industrial analysis needs daily. By joining one of the largest engineering departments in Quebec (Canada), you will be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary engineering team.
As a system engineer/scientist, you will be responsible for developing instruments in the space and defense domain (SDS). You must ensure successful delivery of these projects on time, within budget limits, and in accordance with quality and safety guidelines.
The sought engineer possesses a developed physical sense, autonomy, aptitude for multidisciplinary teamwork, and experience in research and development for the design and analysis of instruments for space missions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or applied sciences (or equivalent) with 12+ years of experience in infrared optical system development as a systems engineer or scientist.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities with a results-oriented mindset and a commitment to standardized aerospace methodologies.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with clients, work collaboratively in teams, and produce clear, concise documentation in both English and French.
  • Skilled in tools such as MagicDraw (MBSE), Windchill, Primavera Client, SAP, Office Suite, and Matlab or Python.
  • Familiar with INCOSE, CMMI, MIL-STD, ISO standards; bilingual in French (required) and English (essential for external client communication)
Responsibilities
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary technical liaison with clients, understanding their needs and maintaining strong, trust-based relationships throughout project phases.
  • Systems Engineering Leadership: Define and manage system and subsystem requirements, develop models and technical budgets, ensure compliance, and mitigate technical risks.
  • Project Coordination & Agile Management: Collaborate with project managers and engineers to plan schedules, track technical progress, and lead Agile-based team meetings.
  • Testing & Validation Support: Work closely with the Integration and Test team to develop and implement test plans, verification, and validation strategies.
  • Continuous Improvement & Communication: Present technical content in English and French, estimate project efforts, and enhance systems engineering tools, including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
