We are looking for an experienced System Engineer to support the enhancement, modernization, and ongoing maintenance of a insurance application. Our system landscape includes long-standing COBOL-based applications as well as newer Java-based solutions. In this role, you will work on both legacy and modern platforms, helping ensure continuity, stability, and future readiness of our business-critical systems. Job Description Maintain, enhance, and optimize existing COBOL applications running on mainframe environments. Develop and extend Java-based applications, including integration layers and backend services. Participate in the migration or modernization of legacy COBOL systems using Java and related technologies. Ensure the quality and reliability of applications through code reviews, testing, and documentation. Support production systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement fixes in a timely manner. Qualifications Experience in COBOL development (mainframe environment preferred). Solid knowledge of Java (Java 8 or higher), including object-oriented programming and backend development. Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., DB2, Oracle, SQL). Ability to understand and maintain complex existing codebases. Strong problem-solving skills and structured working style.
