About this opportunity Business Area Cloud Software & Services (BCSS) is created to capitalise on the opportunity of the convergence of cloud and services. The Core Networks Engineering unit is built to ensure a strong focus on end-to-end product development, with aligned flows, tools, and processes. The unit strives to provide an outstanding customer experience by alignment of Core Networks architecture and products, ways of working, roadmaps, and commercial structure. Product Development Group, PDG CEE, within PDU CLCS has end-to-end ownership of Cloud Execution Environment (CEE), which is Ericsson’s OpenStack and OPNFV-based virtual infrastructure manager (VIM). Our product is the virtualisation, control, and management layer of our market-leading Network Function Virtualisation infrastructure (NFVi) solution. It is an industrialised Telecom-grade cloud platform that ensures several applications, such as virtual network functions, can effectively share the infrastructure resources in terms of compute, storage, and network. PDG CEE is an exciting place to be, with international Ericsson teams spread in different countries, Sweden, Hungary, India and suppliers in India. We are seeking an Experienced System Engineer who will be responsible for the OpenStack System Area in the CEE development organisation. What you will do Lead the technical integration and ongoing evolution of OpenStack components within the Cloud Execution Environment (CEE). Translate high-level requirements into well-defined, implementable features and delivery plans. Produce system and feature studies, evaluations and clear implementation proposals for CEE. Drive and contribute hands-on to development activities and prototyping, ensuring solutions are robust and production-ready. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices. Act as an active member of the Technical System Management team, helping set technical direction and priorities. Support customer interactions as needed, including responding to technical queries and participating in customer-facing meetings. Collaborate closely with Strategic and Technical Product Managers and with upstream open-source team to align development with product strategy. You will bring BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field Minimum 5 years’ experience in systems engineering, senior development, or technical leadership roles. Hands-on experience with cloud system development and integration of open-source components (OpenStack experience is highly desirable). Strong Linux system administration skills and proficiency in programming/scripting (e.g., Python, Bash). Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Proven ability to work effectively across teams, communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences, and collaborate with product and upstream open-source stakeholders.
