Description

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field;
  • Certifications in system integration, automation, or software development (e.g., International Society of Automation (ISA), PMP, or equivalent) are preferred;
  • Strong expertise in system integration and software engineering within transit or large-scale infrastructure projects;
  • Familiarity with WMATA’s mechanical infrastructure and operational standards;
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for automation, control systems, and predictive maintenance;
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in system integration and software engineering. A minimum of three (3) years in the transportation industry is preferred;
  • Proven track record of successful projects involving SCADA, PLCs, and monitoring systems;
  • Experience in working with HVAC, tunnel ventilation, pumps, and fire suppression systems;
  • Experience in software development for asset management, diagnostics, and predictive analytics;
  • Knowledge and experience with cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards; and
  • Experience and skillsets with different communications protocols, fiber optics, ethernet, MODBUS and DMP3 (power)
    Salary Range: $74,000 to $90,000 Y

Responsibilities
  • Assess existing mechanical infrastructure and control systems;
  • Design and implement integration solutions for HVAC, ventilation, pumps, drainage pumping stations, Cooling towers, Fans, Dampers, Sewage Ejectors, and fire suppression systems;
  • Upgrade programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems;
  • Develop communication protocols to connect mechanical systems with WMATA’s central monitoring system;
  • Conduct interoperability testing to ensure seamless system functionality;
  • Provide training and documentation for operators and maintenance personnel;
  • Oversee verification and validation activities for the AIM system during lab tests;
  • Oversee verification and validation activities for the SCADA and AIM systems during field installation and integration tests;
  • Collaborate with contractors, owners, and integrators to identify, resolve, and implement corrective measures for system defects;
  • Review test reports, RFIs, Submittals, design submissions, and related documentations;
  • Ensure all systems are fully commissioned before final approval;
  • Industrial Control System (ICS) and the system’s full integration with the existing SCADA system(s) located at the WMATA Rail Operations Control Center (ROCC);
  • Provide technical guidance in the field of Integration and Software Engineering design, solutions delivery, plans and specifications;
  • Troubleshoot technical issues with design and give design direction, where required;
  • Conduct site visits, construction inspection and participate in progress meetings to monitor project progress, quality control and testing and commissioning of the integrated ICS and SCADAsystem; and
  • Perform other project related duties as assigned by WMATA’s Task Manager.
