Mechanical Layout Designer – Robotics & Automation
About the Role
We are looking for a Mechanical Layout Designer to support the design and integration of robotic automation systems. The primary responsibility of this role is to produce accurate 2D system layouts that ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective solutions for our customers.
While the core focus is on 2D layouts, experience with 3D design and tooling (SolidWorks) is a strong plus and will allow you to contribute more broadly to the development of custom automation equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed 2D layouts of robotic systems and automation cells, adhering to safety standards and customer specifications.
  • Work closely with project engineers and CAD designers to ensure accuracy and consistency in drawings.
  • Translate customer requirements and concepts into practical layout solutions.
  • Support integration efforts by providing clear documentation and drawings for manufacturing and installation.
  • Manage and prioritise multiple layout projects to meet delivery deadlines.
  • [Optional / Nice to Have] Support 3D modeling and tooling design in SolidWorks, including end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) and application-specific fixtures.

Qualifications

  • Background in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting/Design, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (2D layouts) is essential.
  • Experience with SolidWorks is desirable (especially for tooling or fixture design).
  • Knowledge of automation, robotics, or custom machinery design is beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

What’s on Offer

  • A role focused on layout design at the heart of advanced automation projects.
  • The opportunity to expand into 3D/tooling design if desired.
  • A collaborative team environment with exposure to robotics and custom automation solutions.
  • Competitive pay and long-term growth potential.
