The System Manager for Avionics xEVAS Spacesuits will support the JETS II contract in Houston, TX.

  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Must have 5+ years of recent and related work experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of SE&I processes, methodologies, tools, and technologies including model-based systems engineering.
  • Knowledge of test principles, tools, and processes needed to develop test requirements.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, and material selection.
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the System Manager and Subject Matter Expert for Avionic Projects in the Avionic System Division at NASA Johnson Space Center working with NASA’s Commercial Partnerships for the next generation spacesuit and commercial low earth orbit space station.
  • Perform Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) activities including requirements, interfaces, verifications, and integrated performance throughout project lifecycle across internal and external organizations.
  • Assess and document design compliance of NASA agency project requirements to commercial providers.
  • Maintain and update requirements including Verification Requirements and Interface Requirements Documents.
  • Track and maintain requirement documents on task schedule.
  • Track and report financial data for the project to the customer in presentations and document tracking systems.
  • Support the verification activities including verification objectives and procedures, end to end testing development and reviewing Verification Completion Notices.
  • Develop and support sub-project requirement and verification data packages to support architecture requirements, design, verification/validation, operations, and sustaining engineering tasks.
  • Conduct product life cycle reviews, coordinate integration, verification, and validation activities.
  • Review verification and validation reports to verify compliance with project requirements.
  • Participate and contribute to System Requirements Reviews (SRR), Mission Concept Reviews (MCR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Reviews (CDR).
  • Perform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall electrical design and performance.Other duties as assigned.
