SYSTEM POSTING – CONSULTANT: Technology Enabled Learning and Teaching (TELT)
Applications are invited for the position of Consultant: Technology Enabled Learning and Teaching (TELT) (1.0) within the system, effective September 22, 2025. The appointment will be for a term of up to three (3) years.
The duties and responsibilities of the Consultant: Technology Enabled Learning and Teaching (TELT), congruent with the Board’s Mission Statement, will be determined in consultation with the Superintendent of Education – Program and Innovation. The TELT is responsible for the effective adoption and implementation of the ministry-funded Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) through technical administration, professional learning for VLE users, supporting online learning, and building parent/guardian engagement. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to meet the needs of the system.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Honours Specialist or;
  • Specialist any area or;
  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science

Additional Qualifications in:

  • Computer Technology or;
  • Computers in the Classroom, or;
  • Integration of Information and Computer Technology in Instruction, or;
  • Math, or;
  • Science

Other Experience and Criteria:

  • Membership in good standing with Ontario College of Teachers
  • Minimum five (5) years permanent teaching experience in at least two (2) divisions
  • Experience in using the D2L’s Brightspace (NCVLE) to support teaching and learning.
  • Experience with Online Learning strategy for Secondary students.
  • Experience with Blended Learning strategies for elementary and secondary.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience working with various educational technologies i.e Brightspace, Microsoft Office Suite, SMART Technology/Lumio, Google for Education, Edwin, WeVideo, etc.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to effectively integrate digital technology in the classroom
  • Demonstrated commitment to digital discipleship
  • An ability to work both independently and with others, as the situation demands
  • Strong organizational and presentation skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • A proven track record of showing initiative, being creative and launching new initiatives successfully’
  • The ability to organize data and manipulate excel and CSV files.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaison with the Ministry of Education’s Technology Enabled Learning Ontario (TELO) team, Catholic Virtual Online (CVO), Ontario e-Learning Consortium (OeLC), Catholic Curriculum Corporation (CCC), Niagara Catholic system level and school staff.
  • Working with various technologies, (both hardware and software) especially those related to the provincial e-Learning strategy. e.g., EDU Learning Management System (NCVLE), PRISM, OECM);
  • Work cooperatively with members of the Information Technology Services department.
  • Providing support to the Board’s software and hardware goals and priorities as they relate to student achievement.
  • Manage the development of learning resources related to Artificial Intelligence.
  • Supporting AI platforms that have been approved by Niagara Catholic, these may include but not limited to Copilot, Gemini, NotebookLM, etc.
  • Applying and supporting Privacy and Digital Security as it relates to Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA).
  • Support the evaluation and approval of software for educational use.
  • Facilitating the use of the provincial Learning Management System (NCVLE).
  • Facilitating the use technologies across K-12 curriculum areas and expectations in support of student achievement.
  • Managing and overseeing the rostering of educational application.
  • Managing and overseeing the use of PRISM to support Online Learning.
  • Supporting the professional development and delivery of Online Learning.
  • Researching and implementing, where applicable, educational technologies as they relate to technology enabled learning initiatives, i.e. Artificial intelligence.
  • Preparing and submitting status and final reports to the Ministry of Education and Board staff.
  • Contribute to equity and inclusion efforts through technology-enhanced practices.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet the needs of the system.
