EDUCATION

Degree from a recognized college or university specializing in Computer Science or Engineering with computational emphasis.
Significant IT experience in the industry may be also considered.

EXPERIENCE

Significant and recent experience in IT. This includes:

  • Installation, replacement, configuration of IT enterprise hardware
  • Windows Server system administration
  • Storage administration (e.g. filesystems, storage arrays, Network Attached Storage, Storage Area Network)
  • Virtualization environment configuration and maintenance (e.g. HyperV, Proxmox)
  • Network administration

Responsibilities

We are looking for a vibrant and dynamic system administrator to join the Knowledge, Information, and Technology Services Branch (KITS) to support on-premise systems. The support specialist would be someone who shares our core values of impact, accountability, leadership, integrity and collaboration.
Working closely with KITS IT personnel, the chosen candidate will be responsible for the deployment and ongoing operations of servers and peripheral equipment. These deployments will be done following strict departmental rules and regulations. The day-to-day duties will include, but not limited to:
Deployment and management of:

Hardware

  • Firmware updates
  • Health monitoring and maintenance
  • Out-of-band management

Operating system

  • Updates
  • Health
  • Log

Storage allocations

Network

  • Collaborating with a partner agency to ensure that the proper configuration is in place and resolve incidents.
  • Configuration and management of specialized network environments
