Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Telematics Resident Engineer to act as the primary on-site technical liaison between Client and our Automotive OEM customer in Farmington Hills. Stationed at the customer's technical center on a daily basis, you will be the subject matter expert for our Telematics Control Unit (TCU), ensuring Devices Preparation, Issues analysis and resolution, Logs Collection and successful project delivery. You will lead on-site testing efforts, manage bug-fix lifecycles, and coordinate with global engineering teams to provide world-class support. Objectives and deliverables Responsibilities Customer-Facing Technical Leadership: Serve as the primary on-site technical point of contact for all matters related to the Telematics Control Unit (TCU), fostering a strong, collaborative relationship with the customer. Ensure Project milestones are met, and customer expectations are exceeded. Manage and prioritize dynamic requests from the customer, demonstrating flexibility and a customer-centric approach to problem-solving. Testing and Validation: Orchestrate and direct complex testing campaigns (In-Vehicle, Bench, and Field) in direct collaboration with the customer to validate TCU functionality. Systematically capture critical logs (DLT, CAN, etc.) during testing to enable rapid issue reproduction and analysis. Spearhead pre-integration testing and act as the key technical expert during official Joint Validation sessions with the OEM's End-to-End (E2E) validation teams. Devices Preparation: Manage the end-to-end software flashing process for all engineering devices, meticulously verifying software integrity and versioning. Execute this process with high efficiency and consistency to ensure the on-time delivery of hardware for development and validation activities. Issue Management and Root Cause Analysis: Perform initial root cause analysis on reported issues by analyzing DLT, CAN, and other system logs. Provide clear, actionable data summaries in bug triage meetings to help prioritize development efforts on the most critical defects. Engineer and maintain a streamlined workflow for bug reporting and escalation, ensuring all necessary data is packaged with tickets to accelerate resolution time. Cross-Functional Collaboration and Support: Accelerate the bug-fix lifecycle by proactively driving technical discussions with internal development teams and initiating live, multi-stakeholder debugging sessions. Coordinate with global engineering teams across North American, European, and Asian time zones to ensure 24-hour development and support cycles for urgent customer-facing issues. Provide rapid-response technical support for the OEM's production plants, leading on-site investigations to resolve critical quality concerns and prevent costly manufacturing line stoppages. Internal Validation support Proactively contribute to internal Verification & Validation (V&V) team efforts during periods of low customer-facing activity. Assist in test case execution, log analysis, and report generation to accelerate internal project milestones and maximize team productivity. Perform Drive test in the Vehicles lend by Customers. Support System Validation activities at Client Troy office per need (approx 20% of the time). Travel to Customer Plants and Dealership Provide on-site technical support at OEM manufacturing plants and dealerships to investigate, diagnose, and resolve time-sensitive quality and integration issues based on requests. Provide case by case support at OEM Customer Office in Ann Arbor,MI. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. 3-5+ years of experience in automotive electronics, embedded systems, or a related field. Strong understanding of vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and electrical architecture. Experience with the full lifecycle of system testing, including test plan creation, execution (Bench, HIL, Vehicle), and reporting. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis on complex technical issues. Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience with industry-standard automotive tools, including: Network Analysis: Vector CANoe/CANalyzer OEM Diagnostics: DDT2000 or similar proprietary diagnostic tools Log Analysis: DLT (Diagnostic Log and Trace) viewers and analysis techniques Chipset Tools: Familiarity with toolchains from SoC/MCU providers such as Qualcomm or Renesas. Direct experience working on-site at an automotive OEM facility. Experience with Telematics, Infotainment, or other connected vehicle systems. Knowledge of software development and bug-tracking systems (e.g., JIRA). Ability to work effectively in a global team across different time zones. Other Specifications Ability to work autonomously and organize task priorities to meet project objectives. Strong analytical and technical documentation skills. High degree of innovation and a mindset of continuous learning. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of ISO26262/ISO15504/SPICE an advantage.
