The primary responsibility of a the Systems Administrator is to maintain simulation specific hardware and software and ensure its availability and performance. This includes performing preventative, corrective and standby maintenance services.
Job Details:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the Navy Simulation Environment;
  • Assist with integration of multiple simulation systems using simulation architecture;
  • Provide technical advice and maintain delivery of effective day to day operations of RHEL server capabilities and system integration in the Linux environment
  • Ensure that systems are maintained in accordance with the ISM in particular the Essential 8
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of infrastructure monitoring tools to enable the effective monitoring of system performance and capacity planning
  • Liaise with vendors and key stakeholders in relation to incidents, problems, solutions and ongoing support arrangements, including adhering to change management processes and procedures
  • Proactively maintain technical documentation for all existing operational and new ICT services, processes and procedures to support the management of deployed systems
  • Contribute to a cohesive team environment, positive high performing culture and the development of continuous improvement of processes and practices to ensure business objectives and service delivery standards are achieved.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or IT-related discipline or equivalent experience, minimum Diploma level

Skills/Experience/Knowledge

Essential:

  • 5 years’ experience in a systems administration role preferably in a medium - large IT environment;
  • Experience administering production Linux and windows server environments. RHEL7/8 SELinux preferred;
  • Demonstrated background of networking technologies, Cisco routing and switching preferred;
  • Experience with the design, documentation and building of critical infrastructure;
  • Exposure to DSPF or cyber security practices;
  • Good personal and professional communication skills and ability to collaborate with all various stakeholders;
  • You must be eligible for SECRET (NV1) level Defence security clearance, and preferably already hold a current SECRET (NV1) clearance.
