WHO WE ARE

The Esri R&D Center-Stuttgart develops the software technology, Reality Engine, which is used worldwide to reconstruct 3D surface models from images and lidar. As one of the leading solutions in this domain, it focuses on high accuracy and large-scale applications such as aerial mapping of entire cities and countries. The resulting data empowers various applications in areas such as smart cities, infrastructure, 5G planning, change detection, environment monitoring, cadaster mapping, or VR.
Municipalities and leading companies in the mapping industry use our unique technology for countrywide data production. REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years of experience providing IT support
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to support cross-functional teams
  • Experience administering and working with desktop and server infrastructure on Windows and Linux
  • Working knowledge of AD (Active Directory), DHCP, DNS, and Certificates Management
  • Experience working with VMware environments
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills work across geographies
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Existing work authorization for Germany
  • Bachelors in information technology or a related STEM field

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passion for hardware and hardware performance
  • Knowledge of Cisco, Dell hardware, and GPUs (Graphics Processing Unit)
  • Working knowledge of AWS (Amazon Web Services) or Azure Scripting, like PowerShell, JavaScript, or Python
  • Understanding of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and web servers
  • Knowledge of Esri software

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the team with technical expertise and a strong customer service orientation
  • Utilize a follow-the-sun support model as part of the global IT team
  • Perform installation, troubleshooting, and support of workstations, laptops, servers, and periphery
  • Provide local IT support for conference and server rooms including servers, switches, routers, NAS storage, AC-units, UPS
  • Work closely with vendors to coordinate equipment selection, receiving, and troubleshooting. Work with local utilities and ISP companies
  • Enhance the performance of software that heavily relies on computational resources and is sensitive to performance issues, support optimizing hardware, including analyzing the most effective CPU/GPU configurations for development work
  • Manage inventory of technology assets (hardware and software) by keeping asset registers and other documentation up to date
  • Deploy and manage virtual machines using VMware
  • Through a mindset of continuous improvement, regularly assess and provide feedback on opportunities to improve operations
  • Provide operational reporting to leadership regularly and participate in governance meetings
  • Maintain security compliance via regular patching and adhering to corporate security policies
  • International travel to provide global IT support in other Esri offices when needed
