JOB SUMMARY:

The Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA) is seeking a senior-level Systems Administrator to manage its hybrid IT infrastructure, including cloud-based and on-premises systems. This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for overseeing the systems administration team and ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable IT services across the organization.
This position is not intended for entry-level system support or desktop/end-user support—it requires demonstrated experience in Azure/O365, Active Directory, VMware, and team management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field AND 3+ years of direct supervisory/management experience
    OR 5+ years of directly related IT management experience

OR 1+ year in a similar state-level IT Manager role (ITM020 or equivalent).

  • Advanced hands-on experience (4+ years) in:
  • Microsoft Azure & O365 administration
  • Active Directory & Group Policy
  • VMware Infrastructure
  • 2+ years of experience in:
  • Network administration
  • IT systems design and architecture
  • Strong scripting skills (PowerShell).
  • Solid knowledge of IT security practices and system hardening.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certifications:
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
  • Experience analyzing business needs and translating them into secure technical solutions.
  • Excellent leadership, documentation, and communication skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hybrid work model – primarily onsite with some remote flexibility.
  • Office-based work with standard equipment (laptops, smartphones).
  • Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing, and movement required.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and lead the Systems Administration team, including performance management and hiring.
  • Administer and manage Microsoft Azure services (Azure AD, VMs, Networking, Storage, Virtual Desktops, etc.).
  • Oversee O365 tenant-level administration and Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune) configurations.
  • Manage and maintain Active Directory infrastructure, including Group Policy and Domain Controllers.
  • Administer and support the VMware virtualization environment.
  • Ensure secure system configurations and compliance with information security best practices.
  • Design, develop, and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation.
  • Support and optimize network configurations and TCP/IP-based infrastructure.
  • Maintain detailed system documentation, standard operating procedures, and change logs.
  • Promote a culture of security awareness across the IT team and agency.
  • Provide technical expertise and serve as a subject matter expert on infrastructure and system design.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and stakeholders to support IT strategies and issue resolution.
