Systems administrator
Position Summary:
The System Administrator is a seasoned technical support professional who is well-organized, effectively manages their workload when faced with shifting priorities, and is able to switch between tasks seamlessly without constant supervision. The System Administrator draws on broad technical knowledge and experience to quickly diagnose and address issues while also paying close attention to detail and tailoring support or solutions to minimize impact or interruption and optimize operations. Impeccable communication skills, team collaboration and a courteous and approachable nature, are key components to the success in this role.

SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience working directly with general IT infrastructure technologies
  • Ability to deal with stressful situations with professionalism and to periodically work overtime and outside normal business hoursAbility to troubleshoot technical system errors and produce resolutions in a timely manner
  • Ability to respond to critical incidents off hours if necessary
  • Ability to support after hours maintenance windows in rotation with the team
  • Ability to work in a highly organized manner with attention to detail and accuracy while meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities
  • Relevant certifications: Microsoft 365/Azure Associate, Palo Alto PCNSE, Cisco CCNA, ITIL, or equivalent
  • Broad range of IT-related systems administration, including deployment and management of:
  • Windows servers, Linux servers, virtualization
  • Active Directory, Azure AD, DNS, DHCP, and other network services
  • Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Azure (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS services)
  • Microsoft EMS, Defender, ATP, and other cloud-based security services
  • Infrastructure to support DevOps using cloud-based technologies, ex.: Azure DevOps, Azure Functions, Azure App Service, Containers, Azure SQL, Managed Instance, or equivalent on AWS
  • Network technologies including Firewall, Switches, VPN, Load Balancer, WAF
  • Microsoft Systems Center (SCCM), Intune, and other management tools
  • Email infrastructure, SMTP services
  • High-availability systems supporting transactional Web applications
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform and Microsoft Dynamics 365 is considered an asset
    Mitacs has a hybrid, remote-first workplace with a predominantly remote workforce. A suitable, quiet, and safe home or remote workspace with a reliable private Wi-Fi connection is essential for carrying out the general duties of the role.
    Hiring Range: $71,200 - $84,500
Responsibilities
  • Plan, design, and implement technical improvements to IT infrastructure, including systems, servers, network, storage, and cloud.
  • Azure Cloud management, Infrastructure Deployment/Management, Security Compliance, Configure/manage/troubleshoot the Network
  • Support existing Automation Scripts and look to improve/develop more.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade existing infrastructure to meet capacity, reliability, security, and efficiency objectives
  • Collaborate and document systems and processes
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity
  • Monitor system health and availability. Analyze and discover the root cause and provide an effective solution to remediate
  • Perform system backup and recovery to support business operations and continuity
  • Contribute to projects and initiatives, adhering to policies, strategy, and best practices
  • Notify and update relevant technology leadership stakeholders and coordinate with other teams to expedite resolution as required.
