Description
Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Senior System Administrator to provide critical support to a high-profile Air Force program operating out of Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling Air Force Base (JBAB). In this role, you will serve as the Program Office’s IT professional, responsible for maintaining and monitoring both internal and external networks. This includes designing, implementing, and managing systems, applications, security, and network configurations. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in system administration, network performance management, and providing technical support in classified environments. Responsibilities Independently execute IT/Systems Administrator tasks within a secure and classified environment. Implement, configure, operate, and maintain multiple classified and unclassified networked systems. Plan, coordinate, install, and configure application software and hardware for classified networked systems. Provide troubleshooting and help desk support to personnel, resolving IT issues efficiently. Maintain inventory control records for all IT equipment, including current and future inventories, software, and networks. Oversee the installation and configuration of system patches, upgrades, and enhancements, ensuring system integrity. Conduct proactive system monitoring to identify potential issues before they occur and recommend solutions. Provide secure video teleconferencing (VTC) support and assist with networks. Identify and resolve complex system problems, developing preventive measures to avoid future occurrences. Support contractor inspections to ensure that network controls meet documentation and implementation standards. Optimize hardware and software functionality to ensure server availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability. Actively participate in working groups and team planning off-sites to foster collaboration and effective project execution. Establish trusted and influential relationships with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will independently execute the following: Administer and maintain multiple systems and serve as the POC for network operations. Troubleshoot and address unique hardware and software malfunctions, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions. Design, plan, and configure IT solutions to enhance the functionality and performance of IT systems. Manage classified system upgrades, ensuring a seamless user experience during backups, downtime, or updates. Foster communication and provide technical consultation and instruction to streamline system changes. Required Experience 16+ years of relevant experience in System Administration for DoD networks. Security+ Certification is required. Strong knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals (e.g., DNS, DHCP, FTP, SSH, IP CONFIG). Expertise in technical support, cloud computing, information security, and compliance. Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, and managing network switches and routers, with expertise in OSPF, MPLS, SDN, and routing/switching on Juniper and Cisco hardware platforms. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and efficiently manage time. Required Education Bachelor’s Degree with 16+ years of System Administration experience or a Master’s Degree with 12+ years of System Administration experience. Required Clearance Active TS/SCI and SAP eligibility. At least 12 months of Special Access Program (SAP) experience within the last 3 years. U.S. Citizenship is required.
