Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Reporting to SVP, Information Systems, the Systems Administrator is the technical lead on all Linux based IT infrastructure and applications and is willing to work as a second line of technical support for our PC/Mac support teams. This position requires a leader with an excellent understanding of best practices in IT, expert problem solving capability and strong communication skills including ability to empathize with staff experiencing technical difficulties. Experience working with linux servers both in the cloud and on AWS is required.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technical lead on Amazon AWS infrastructure. You will be responsible for owning and configuring all EC2 instances, RDS, DNS, EFS, S3 and various other AWS cloud services.
  • You will be responsible for organizing and maintaining security on our AWS cloud infrastructure including setting up and maintaining, VPC’s, VPN’s, ACL’s, AWS security groups, IAM roles, AWS systems Manager, etc
  • Responsible for supporting all DevOps processes for a team of around a dozen web application programmers, contractors, etc. Experience working with Github, Envoyer, Sentry, Linear, Figma and other systems the dev team wants to integrate.
  • Work with our contract mac/pc support team to organize and integrate our cloud services based including Google Workspace, box.com, Slack, etc.
  • Work with our IT support team and HR to setup automated staff onboarding and offboarding through an HR automation tool rippling.com.
  • Serve as tier2 support and backup in case of emergencies for our IT support team who help maintain essential IT operations to the wider Nettwerk staff. This includes backup support for all cloud services, internal networking, local applications, backups, end user devices, printers, AV systems, and phones to enable our team to work effectively and efficiently
  • Help setup security training for employees on both software and hardware best practices; Setup training curriculums in https://www.knowbe4.com/
  • Act as a senior resource for change management, incident management, and other IT processes
  • Uphold IT policies and procedures to ensure best practices in securing our data, network, and systems
  • Monitoring of security and privacy compliance
  • Complete routine maintenance on all systems and act to proactively solve problems

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • 4+ years working with AWS to build and support various servers.
  • 4+ years working with linux based software including support of production services like nginx, MariaDB/MySQL, Samba, proxy servers, etc.
  • Excellent understanding of best practice in IT
  • Ability to prioritize and solve problems (strong analytical skills)
  • Detail oriented and strives for best end user experience
  • Ability to multitask and make complex connections
  • Willingness to help our Mac & PC client support contractor when required.
  • Experience working with a distributed team offering remote support
  • Experience managing cloud based systems such as: Google Workspace, Box,
  • Working knowledge of IT infrastructure, security, and operations best practices
  • AWS certifications an asset
  • Basic scripting knowledge with one or more of Bash, Python, PHP, etc.
  • Database DBA experience with MySQL or MariaDB
  • Microsoft Server Support experience
