Job Summary: Under direct supervision of the Technical Systems Supervisor, the Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems. This position will use effective communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. The Systems Administrator works fluidly across the infrastructure elements of security, storage, and virtualization to deliver new availability, capacity, services, and safeguards. Essential Functions: Manage Windows/Linux workstations and servers Upgrading, installing, and configuring application software and computer hardware Provide frontline support ensuring all tickets are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions Establish and maintain current and correct documentation, assist with policy and procedure development Creating and managing system permissions and user accounts Assist in planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure Training technical and non-technical staff on new systems, protocols, and best practices Work alternate shifts when necessary and serve in an on-call capacity, including holidays and weekends as designated by the Technical Systems Manager or Supervisor Assist with the planning and implementation of the TRS disaster recovery plan. This includes participating in the annual disaster recovery test Serve as project leader to make recommendations for appropriate hardware/software solutions Assist IT Engineers to ensure adequate security and technology policies are enacted Occasional travel may be required Perform other duties as required or assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems. Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical discipline and two (2) years of relevant experience Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis Adept knowledge of and experience working with PowerShell or other scripting language Adept knowledge of network protocols and standards Must be able to work within a fast-paced environment that requires frequent attention shifts Adept communication skills, emotional intelligence, humility, and drive Proactive, self-starter able to work with limited supervision Adept time and project management skills Please note: The salary range listed for this position is based on the Springfield, IL market. For Illinois job seekers: Pay Range $69,512.40 - $108,439.00 Compensation will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of each candidate.
