Description

The Systems Analyst is responsible for eliciting system requirements from the customer and then analyzing those requirements to define a concept for the solution. The Systems Analyst will also perform Quality Assurance activities to ensure that the solution will meet the requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Two (2) year diploma in Computer Science, Business Administration or other related discipline
Five (5) years of experience participating in the requirements, analysis, design, construction, or quality assurance of software applications; preferably using methods, techniques, and tools similar to those used by the WCB IT department
Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to accurately interpret and execute complex technical instructions
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience with WCB claims processing and/or assessments would be an asset
Ability to communicate proficiently in both official languages (English & French) is an asset, but is not required

Analysis & Design

  • Uses prototyping or other simulation techniques to evaluate and confirm requirements
  • Creates and applies analysis documents (e.g. models) as per departmental standards, guidelines, and practices to document the structure and function of systems
  • Analyzes the requirements for purchased software to determine how it should be configured and customized
  • Participates in quality assurance activities, such as reviews

  • Creates and maintains test documentation as per standards and guidelines
  • Identifies test scope, tests, and procedures for projects
  • Plans, prepares data, performs, and verifies unit, integration, system, performance, scalability, benchmark, and user acceptance testing
  • Reviews work products and ensure standards and guidelines are followed
