Description As a System Engineer within the NDI team, you will be part of design, procurement, configuration, production, testing, deployment and troubleshooting of air, land, sea and subsea surveillance and interdiction systems. The position requires the ability to have hands on skills with network racking and stacking; various cabling work for network, power, and connectivity; network and firewall design and configuration; and systems design and integration work with command-and-control software packages. These systems integrate surveillance technologies such as radars, cameras, AIS, sonars, networking/communications hardware, and operational systems/centers. This job requires both Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) travel to support customer meetings, installation, and commissioning of these systems. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES · Develops and validates system requirements and subsequent designs based on customer/program budgets and constraints. · Develops and maintains system and subsystem requirements specifications. · Utilizes controlled documentation and government standards, application guides, and industry best practices to support the design, development, integration, and test lifecycle of the project. · Supports the acquisition of hardware and software from suppliers/vendors. · Supports and participates in technical activities related to design, manufacture, integration, test, installation, and maintenance support. · Analyzes, designs, develops, documents and supports testing of products, systems, and subsystems. · Create system/subsystem design documentation, Operations & Maintenance Manuals, Interface Control Documents, and interconnect diagrams. · Specifies and evaluates supplier components, subsystems, and services. · Develops vendor Statements of Work to define project scope and expected tasks, including performance objectives. · Supports oversight of vendor performance and will be the technical point of contact to ensure on-time product deliveries. · Designs and develops prototypes to reduce development risk. · Ability to work independently and provide regular reporting of progress and status to management. · Participates in proposal development activities and cost estimating tasks. · Supports, communicates, and attends engineering, customer, and business meetings. · Supports the evaluation of new technologies. · CONUS/OCONUS travel required (estimated 10% annually). Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Minimum Requirements · Substantial knowledge of systems engineering principles and product development lifecycle. · General knowledge of surveillance sensors, including radar and camera systems, communications and networking equipment, power equipment, and other supporting information technology devices. · General knowledge of electrical and radio frequency safety. · Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous workloads effectively, including adapting to changes, planning, organizing, and prioritizing work. · Thorough knowledge using general software products such as Microsoft applications (i.e. 365, Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint). · Domestic and international travel required; must possess or ability to obtain a US passport. · Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET level clearance. Preferred Capabilities · Must be comfortable working at height, and willing to become a certified tower climber/rescuer. · Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Enterprise Resource Planning tool. · MS Project or Smartsheet Project Management Software. · Systems integration experience with radars, AIS – Automatic ID Systems, EO/IR cameras, sonar systems, and related command and control software suites. · Cybersecurity Experience in Commercial or DoD (NIST/CMMC). · Use of computer aided design/analysis software in performance of assignments. · General knowledge and use of Wireshark, PuTTY, OpenSSH, FileZilla, and different Operating Systems such as Windows and Linux. WORK EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION · Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or other related technical discipline. · Four (4) years of professional industry experience in the aerospace or defense market.
