Description

The System Engineer, Architect (SE-Arc) is the primary administrator for a specific technology in the Data Center. The SE-Arc has overall responsibility for the design, management and planning for either the Data Network and or the Data Center. The SE-Arc performs these tasks with no supervision and in partnership with the Data Center Manager. The SE-Arc plans the comprehensive maintenance of the system. The SE-Arc sets standards for the data and or system security, backups and recovery procedures. The SE-Arc is responsible for the design, creation, review and upkeep of security, backup, recovery and maintenance procedures for the Data Network and or the Data Center. The SE-Arc does capacity planning and monitors systems across the infrastructure. The SE-Arc will provide regular reports on environmental condition including but not limited to performance, patches, storage growth, age and refresh as defined by Management. The SE-Arc will follow all Security protocols and may assist in developing these protocols. The SE-Arc will monitor for and participate in the resolution of Security events.
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: 10 years of related experience. Requires advanced knowledge in highly specialized systems and procedures.

Area of Responsibilities

The SE-Arc performs these tasks with no supervision and in partnership with the Data Center Manager. The SE-Arc plans the comprehensive maintenance of the system. System Maintenance and Monitoring: The SE-Arc, along with the Data Center Manager, defines the standards for maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, building, and repairing systems, hardware, and other peripherals within the Data Center and or Network Environment. The SE-Arc oversees the installation, monitoring, and modification of these systems. The SE-Arc orders and directs the installation and configuration of new hardware in the environment. The SE-Arc defines, performs or leads others to perform routine maintenance on equipment and troubleshoots system issues resulting from maintenance. The SE-Arc is responsible for a 5-year strategic plan for the Data Center, including but not limited to Hardware Refresh, New Technology, Business Continuance, and Disaster Recovery.
Incident Management: The SE-Arc leads others in resolving issues occurring within the Data Center. The SE-Arc responds to Incidents entered by IT and Operations. The SE-Arc logs and manages service calls and warranty work with various service providers outside the network. The SE-Arc assigns and supervises work done on incidents. The SE-Arc is expected to exceed all Service Level benchmarks to meet minimal performance standards. The SE-Arc collaborates and leads other members of IT and Operations with root cause analysis of problems to resolve them in a timely manner. The SE-Arc will lead in root cause analysis cases for the area of responsibility. The SE-Arc is expected to resolve issues without assistance, and to serve as a mentor and escalation point for others in the resolution of issues. The SE-Arc maintains relationships with key vendors and business partners to ensure the highest level of support for the business. The SE-Arc may be asked to participate in, or lead, cross-functional teams in resolution of an Incident.
Change Management: The SE-Arc performs analytical, technical, and administrative work in the installation of new and existing systems in one or more disciplines of the Data Center. The SE-Arc leads project teams to deploy or develop new or replacement products. The SE-Arc, working independently, performs system software, firmware and hardware upgrades and plans, schedules, tests the deployment of these upgrades and serves as an escalation point in these areas. The SE-Arc performs or leads others, including cross-functional teams, to perform system maintenance, coordinating with the business for the appropriate maintenance window. The SE-Arc may lead or participate in cross-functional teams to complete an implementation or upgrade.

Employee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System’s Ethics and Compliance program. Is responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Hotline.
