Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.     Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.    We currently have an opportunity for a Commercial Officer in Sydney to work on NCB projects.       What You’ll Do      This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:    * Own program financials: Manage budget updates, forecasting, accruals, and day-to-day financial controls.  * Lead commercial planning & procurement: Develop frameworks and deliver procurements including scope notices, CCPs, and work packages.  * Manage contracts end-to-end: Oversee performance, deliverables, costs, and compliance across key DCE contracts.  * Drive governance & assurance: Conduct audits, cost reviews, and implement strategies to maintain commercial compliance.  * Engage stakeholders & enable delivery: Build strong relationships, support broader commercial activities, and capture lessons learnt.    What You’ll Bring    * Strong financial acumen: Proven ability to manage budgets, forecasting, accruals, and financial controls.  * Commercial & procurement expertise: Experience delivering procurements and developing commercial frameworks and plans.  * Contract management capability: Ability to oversee contract performance, deliverables, and compliance requirements.  * Governance & assurance mindset: Skilled in audits, cost reviews, and maintaining commercial compliance across programs.  * Stakeholder engagement & communication: Confident working with diverse stakeholders, presenting insights, and supporting broader commercial activities.    Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain an AGSVA Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth.
